Last weekend, we concluded three separate readings of the manuscript. Dozens of grammatical and typograhical errors were found among a few missing transitions.
- Maryam and Zaynab worked a two-pronged attack. While Maryam focused on overall flow and identifying minor inconsistencies in accounts spanning chapters, Zaynab zeroed into several issues of grammar.
- Ibrahim, with the benefit of being the original transcriber, shared feedback in a few key chapters. In particular, there were some good edits to improve the flow of events in the chapter titled Sulphur. Even Luqman, the authors youngest grandson, provided a creative spark to help his brother’s feedback.
The overall result is a smoother and tighter manuscript.
Before we considered self-publishing, we wanted to do our due diligence and pitch the manuscript to a selet few publishers.

- I am narrowing down a list of publishers based in the UK as well. Seaforth Publishing caught our attention from a quick oinline scan.
